Thigh Lift

Scroll Down

Due to a sharp weight loss or advancing age, the skin on the thighs can sag, so that it hangs down especially on the insides. Additional fat accumulation can enhance the effect. An operative thigh lift can help and effectively tighten and smooth the legs. This gives them a slim, sporty and strong appearance.

How does a thigh lift work?

A thigh lift is performed inpatient and takes about 2-3 hours. It is operated under general anesthesia. At the beginning of the treatment, the surgeon draws the planned incision on the legs of the standing patient. This runs on both sides from the front area of the groin at the level of the pubic hair border along the inguinal fold, over the thigh-perineal bend to the buttocks fold, ie between the legs. After the incisions have been made, the skin of the thighs is detached from the underlying tissue, pulled upwards and tightened. In the case of strong formation of fat accumulations, a classic liposuction can now be used for fat removal. If the excess skin is very pronounced, another vertical incision is also made on the inside of the thighs. The surgeon removes excess skin, places wound drains to drain the wound fluid and sutures the wound edges with a special suture technique. A compression bandage is then applied.

What does the aftercare after a thigh lift look like?

After tightening the thighs, the patient should remain in the clinic for a few more days. The day after the operation, the wound drains are removed. The legs should now be strained and spared only slightly for about 1-2 weeks. Compression underwear must always be worn to avoid excessive scarring and to support healing. Since the incisions during the thigh lift run in the groin as well as near the genital area, they are later to be completely covered by underwear. If an additional vertical incision has been made on the inside of the thighs, it can later be seen as a scar. However, conscientious scar care makes it inconspicuous. About 2-4 weeks after the thigh lift, the patient is fully socially acceptable again, the final result of the surgical treatment is visible after about 4-6 weeks.
